Guinea: Hundreds of families affected by devastating flood

On Sunday, 6th August 2023, hundreds of people including women and children were woken up to a devastating flood in Maneah, in the Prefecture of Coyah, just 20km out of Guinea’s capital Conakry. Many victims lost all their belongings including food, clothes, and other materials that they had acquired for years. Dozens of properties were sub-merged with dirty swamp water after a heavy down-pour in the area caused the near-by river to burst its bank and overcome the fractured flood defence. African Voices Platform, spoke to some residents in the area to find out more.
