Labour's Safiya re-elected in Burngreave

Councillor Safiya Saeed has been re-elected for the Burngreave ward. Labour Party’s Safiya who serves as Deputy Chair of the North East Local Area Committee won with 1780 votes, while Green Party candidate Mustapha Ali Ahmed took second with 894 votes. Saeed who is a mother of five children was first elected as Councillor three years ago.
She is also the founder of the charity Reach Up Youth established with the aim to provide a programme of social educational and recreational activities within a safe and secure environment, which encourages young people to reach their full potential.

After the local election results were announced, Safiya spoke to African Voices Platform about her priorities.
