Liberians mark 175th independence anniversary and freeing of slaves bicentenary

Over the weekend, Liberians across the UK were gathered in Sheffield to celebrate their country’s 175th independence anniversary and also the bicentenary of free slaves being taken from America to the West Coast of Africa (Liberia).

The three days event was organised by the Union of Liberian Organisation in the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Liberian Organisation of Sheffield. Reverened Akoi Massayan Bazzie, a member of LOS and Rolland Kessely Ballah, the secretary general of ULO UK, spoke to Baillor Jalloh more about the event.
